We love how our military families are raising their families to serve others. Met a nice little family today, who hosted an event to benefit our Fisher House on Eglin. They all serve, and sacrifice in defense of our nation and their daughter wanted the honor of writing the BIG check! #allinthefamily #keepingfamiliestogether
What says Welcome better than something yummy for your tummy? We have created a new partnership for the Team Eglin Newcomers providing a “snack attack” for the break, courtesy of our friends at Eglin Federal Credit Union. Props hosted the Summertime Craft Beer Fest in June to benefit Fisher House of the Emerald Coast. This fun event, featuring 13 local and regional breweries plus small bites by Props and live music from Ryan Frederick Stroud, took place Saturday, June 29 from 2-5 p.m. at the Props Ale House in Niceville. The breweries attending were: 3rd Planet Brewing – Niceville, Bayou Brewing – Niceville, Destin Brewery – Destin, Fairhope Brewery – Fairhope, Alabama, Gulf Coast Brewery – Pensacola, Oyster City Brewing Co – Apalachicola, Ye Olde Brothers Brewery – Navarre, Karbach Brewing Co – Houston, Texas, Big Top Brewing Co – Pensacola, Serda Brewing Co – Mobile, Alabama, Strange Colt Brewery – Niceville, Pensacola Bay Brewery – Pensacola. Ticket purchase includes unlimited samples and a souvenir tasting glass.
AfterHours Customs FWB who has rebuilt a 100th Anniversary 2003 Harley Davidson Fat Boy for a raffle with a percentage of the proceeds going to Fisher House attended to show case the bike at the beer festival with raffle tickets for sale – one for $20 or six for $100. The drawing takes place Oct. 17, 2019 at Fisher House’s 12th Annual Helping Heroes Gala at The Henderson in Destin. The winner does not need to be present to win.

On Thursday, July 18, 2019 our Corporate Intern Jenny Hendry, along with board member Karen Spence attended the 2019 Veteran Job Fair in Crestview, hosted by our friends at CareerSource. 102 job seekers attended and participants included 49 Veterans, 7 transitioning service members, and 14 spouses of active duty or Veterans. Several current sponsors of Fisher House were among the exhibitors!
On July 9th, Jenny Hendry our corporate intern attended the 6th Annual Great American Cookout hosted by the Destin Chamber of Commerce. Teresa Halverson, board chair, along with Joe Agostinelli attended where we got some great videos of those in attendance to help promote our upcoming 12th annual Gala. Win-Win! You blink and ten tears go by in a flash. Here is Julie Thompson who helped give our Fisher House on Eglin it’s amazing start. Many families have healed together in the home where love happens every day.

“God led us to the Fisher House when we were in need and what a blessing it has been. I will always remember the kind, caring staff. We couldn’t have asked for a better, more beautiful place to stay. I hope that Zachary and Elizabeth Fisher can see how many families they have helped. What an amazing legacy. Thanks to all of you!”
Here is the rest of the story….”my husband suffered a heart attack while we were vacationing in Destin. He had 7 stints and was in ICU for 7 days and the hospital 9 days total. He was not allowed to travel for over a week after he was released. Two days after he went to the hospital, we had to be out of our condo and everywhere we looked, they were booked or too expensive. God sent us to Fisher House. it was so much more than we could have ever imagined. It took a huge burden off of my shoulders. The staff was amazing. I can’t thank you enough for all you have done for us. Your kindness and support during a very stressful time will never be forgotten. May God bless each of you as you have been a true blessing to us. We will never forget ya’ll or the Fisher House.”
