Accessibility Statement

Last updated July 16, 2026

Our Commitment

Fisher House of the Emerald Coast, Inc. is committed to ensuring that our website and digital communications are accessible to people with disabilities, including our military and veteran families, their caregivers, and members of the public who support our mission. We believe every visitor should be able to learn about our programs, volunteer, donate, and stay in touch with dignity and ease.

Standards We Follow

We work toward conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, cognitive, motor, and neurological differences.

Measures We Take

  • Designing with sufficient color contrast, scalable text, and clear typography.
  • Providing descriptive text alternatives for meaningful images.
  • Building navigation and interactive elements that work with keyboards, screen readers, and assistive technologies.
  • Using semantic HTML, ARIA labels, visible focus indicators, and a "skip to content" link.
  • Reviewing new pages, forms, and features for accessibility before publishing.
  • Training our volunteers and contributors on accessible content practices.

Ongoing Work

Accessibility is an ongoing effort. Some portions of the Site — such as older content, embedded third-party tools (donation platforms, maps, videos, and volunteer signup portals), and PDF documents — may not yet fully meet our accessibility goals. We are working to improve those areas over time and prioritize fixes based on user impact.

Third-Party Content

Our Site links to and embeds tools operated by third parties, including payment processors, event registration, and volunteer coordination services. While we choose partners that share our commitment to accessibility, we do not control those services and cannot guarantee their conformance. If you encounter a barrier with a third-party tool, please contact us and we will do our best to help you complete your task another way.

Need Help or Have Feedback?

If you have difficulty accessing any part of our Site, or if you need information in an alternative format, please let us know. We welcome your feedback and will make reasonable efforts to provide the information, item, or transaction you are seeking through an accessible means.
